For some, it is difficult to get up and fight after an injury or other tragedy. Defeat can feel inevitable and advocates, scarce.

When someone is willing to tirelessly fight by your side, it can give you the hope you need to continue working toward a more positive outcome. The Santa Clara County Trial Lawyers Association recently named our associate, Nina Shapirshteyn, a trial lawyer of the year because of her willingness to fight for her clients.

Excellence in the courtroom

Advocating for her clients is what has set Ms. Shapirshteyn apart in the courtroom. She passionately represents clients who need someone in their corner after they have suffered substantial personal injuries and losses.

Her recent case, Kuhlmann v. Ethicon-Endo Surgery, LLC, Johnson & Johnson Health Care Services, et al., Ms. Shapirshteyn’s client suffered severe injuries from surgery. Ms. Kuhlmann had permanent injuries because of a faulty surgical tool. In the end, the jury awarded Ms. Kuhlmann over $79 million in damages.

While no amount of money can undo the damage, Ms. Shapirshteyn stood up for her client and helped Ms. Kuhlmann feel heard at a time when she was most vulnerable.

Holding big business accountable

In cases like Ms. Kuhlmann’s, clients can feel intimidated by both the medical community and a large corporation. Ms. Shapirshteyn makes sure that her clients feel supported at a time when they feel alone and overwhelmed.

Ms. Shapirshteyn continues to provide knowledgeable counsel in the face of big businesses, making sure they are held responsible for the injuries they cause. We congratulate Ms. Shapirshteyn on her accomplishment of being named a trial lawyer of the year by the Santa Clara County Trial Lawyers Association.
