The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) recently issued a press release about a recall of defective pressure cookers. According to the CPSC, Rena Ware is recalling Nutrex Cooker pressure cookers due to a manufacturing defect. These faulty pressure cookers can discharge steam at lower pressures than intended, which poses a risk of serious burn hazard to consumers. At this time, there have been 13 reports of unintended depressurization. Five of those reports involved burn injuries to consumers.

Details of The Nutrex Pressure Cooker Recall

The pressure cookers involved are called “Nutrex Cookers” and have the model number 2153. They are silver with black handles, and they have a blue gasket attached on the inside of the cover. Rena Ware is also stamped on the bottom of the unit. These pressure cookers were sold through Rena Ware sales representatives between December of 2015 and June of 2018 for between $750 and $820. If you have one of these defective pressure cookers, you need to stop using it immediately and contact Rena Ware for a free repair.

Fast Track Recalls With the CPSC

The Rena Ware pressure cooker recall is being processed via the CPSC’s Fast Track recall system. These recalls are initiated and conducted by manufacturers who commit to working with the CPSC to quickly announce recalls and conduct them in a swift and effective manner. The most important thing is getting dangerous products repaired or replaced as fast as possible. Getting the word out about defective recalled products is the first step in protecting consumer safety once a problem has been identified. Consumer safety needs to be a top priority for product manufacturers and retailers nationwide.

Injuries Caused by Defective and Faulty Products

If a defective or faulty product has injured you, it’s critically important to contact the manufacturer immediately. Additionally, you should also file a report with the CPSC and speak with a lawyer about your options.
