There has been in the last few weeks a number of recalls of children-related products, including items marketed by high-profile firms like IKEA. Here is a list of the recalled items:
3/19/14
Ganz USA LLC, has recalled over 8,000 plush Grumpy Cat stuffed animal toy due to a choking hazard. The recall includes an 8-inch, 5-inch, and 4-inch variation of the toy, including a key clip. Although Ganz USA has received reported of toy eyes detaching, no injuries have been reported. It was sold at a wide variety of stores between December 2013 and January 2014, and the company urges to find the recalled products and return them for a full refund or a product of equivalent value.

Minga Fair Trade Imports has issued a recall on wooden flipping acrobat toys due to excessive levels of lead in the paint. Although only 135 units have been recalled and no injuries reported, consumers should immediately return the products for refund, especially since excessive levels of lead in paint is prohibited under federal Law. The items were sold between late 2008 to May 2014.

IKEA North America Services LLC is recalling Children’s bed canopies due to a strangulation hazard, with over 250,000 canopies taken off the shelf in the USA, and 2.6 million worldwide. This includes over 12 variations of the product which were sold between 1996-2014, due to the canopy mesh which can pose risk to infants or young children. There have been nearly 10 reports of children being entangled in the canopies, and IKEA urges consumers to immediately stop using the recalled products and return them to any of their stores for a full refund.
