General Motor’s has recalled around 3600, 2012 Buick Regal for parking lights that fail to activate when drivers turn on the vehicle’s headlight switch.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, this flaw violates U.S. safety standards and may cause an increased risk of vehicle collisions due to reduced visibility of the Buick car.

NHTSA says the recalled Buick Regal parking light malfunction is caused by a software programming error during the sedans’ manufacture from February 2011 to last month. GM will notify Buick Regal owners affected by this safety flaw to bring their cars in to local dealerships where the vehicle’s “body control module” will be reprogrammed for free. General Motors is expected to contact owners of recalled Buicks this week.

If you would like more more information about this safety recall you can call GM‘s toll-free customer support line ( 800-521-7300 ) and ask about GM recall number 12048 or by visiting the NHTSA website: www.SaferCar.gov.
