Walter Barrett 53, of Oakland was struck and killed crossing Interstate 280 early Sunday in Daly City.
According to authorities, Barrett was crossing the freeway just south of the John Daly Boulevard on-ramp at around 6:00 a.m. when he was struck by a 2009 Toyota Corolla. The driver stopped and fled on foot.
The Toyota is registered to George Taussig, of South San Francisco. Authorities have not been able to contact Taussig, although authorities do not believe he was the driver.
The CHP is looking for witnesses to the accident or for those who might know where Taussig is. Anyone with information is asked to contact the CHP at (415) 557-1094.
