An unidentified 65-year-old woman was killed this afternoon when she was struck by a UCSF shuttle bus as she was crossing Geary Street at Leavenworth, according to San Francisco police.

The accident which occurred at 12:27 pm as The bus was headed north on Leavenworth and turned left onto Geary, at 12:27 pm when the bus struck the unidentified victim. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Police Sgt. Michael Andraychak said the victim was crossing Geary, headed south on Leavenworth at the time of the accident.

Police said the front of the bus hit the woman and the bus stopped at the scene. “The driver is cooperating with the police investigators,” Andraychak said. “I’m told there were passengers on board, but no one one else was injured.”

He said the police department hit and run detail is handling the investigation.

According to a UCSF spokeswoman officials are investigating but said further statements would come after “we have determined the facts of the situation.”
